It's hard to believe that Trump could get worse than he already is, but the latest climate plans are madder than anything he's done before. His madness matches and surpasses the madness of King George III. Trumpelstiltskin's latest escapade includes the repealing of climate legislation set out by the Obama administration in 2009, and is about the denial of science. The rolling back of legislation allows Trump to expand fossil fuel production, by the removal of the regulations relating to greenhouse gases, but we know why this is all going on. It's classic Trump distraction technique. If something is bad, oh look here's a red herring, and red meat for his lobotomised base. I don't say this out of unkindness, but if you are still believing Trump then you are a victim of the crooked mind virus, that is a far bigger problem. We see this everywhere, and it's usually from well-meaning individuals unlike Trump. We are seeing this in the UK at the moment with Starmer having hired Mandelson on the advice of his now no longer advisor Morgan McSweeney, a highly corrupting influence on a man who should have known better than to trust an already long-discredited advisor. There was lots of terrific stuff about the Tony Blair era, but equally, the decisions Mandelson made in office were tinged with corruption- such as the Horizon scandal, misconduct in public office and the sharing of private government secrets. His appointment was hideous, and I hope Sir Christian Turner, Mandelson's replacement, is less corrupt and a more committed civil servant than his predecessor. Still, we are forgetting the madness of Minneapolis and the murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who did nothing wrong. Trump's time in office however is marred by scandal after scandal, and yet, it's seemingly all water off a rather thick duck's back. The latest climate denial measure is just another asinine policy that will cause more harm in the long term. Other presidents will be tarred by Trump's decision making now, and it is shameful that he has marred the American democratic system seemingly forever.
